Basboosa ya Basboosa
Ok, Im really hungry and there's still a long way to go till ftoor time! (crying face)
Syrup: 2 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/4 cups water
juice of 1 lemon
Basbosa cake: 2 cups semolina
1 cup sugra
1 stick butter
1 cup full cream milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon baking soda
2 eggs
Preheat oven 350*. Grease 9 x12 baking pan. Cream together the butter and suger. Then add the vanilla extract. In another bowl, add the semolina, baking soda and baking powder, then add the suger and butter mixture and milk.
Add to pan, take a knife and make diagonal lines making the shape of a diamond. Then add almonds. Bake for 25 minutes.
To prepare syrup, dissolve the sugar in water, add lemon juice and bring to a boil. reduce heat and then pour onto cake mixture till absorbed.
